Introduction:
According to Jain scriptures, this place is known as Jiravalli, Jirapalli, Jirikavalli, Jairajpalli and so on. According to ancient ruins and relics that Jirawala was very large and prosperous city. In 326 Vikram era, Shri Jirawala Parshwanath temple was built by Sheth Shri Amrasa. Once upon a time, Amrasa and Acharya Sri Dev Suriji had a similar dream that the guardian deity Parshwanath Bhagwan came into their dream and told that his idol was lying underground in a cave which was outside the city of Jeerawali which would be discovered and installed ceremonially on the foothills of Jirawali. Amrasa and Acharya Sri Dev Suriji went to that particular place in search of that idol and the idol of Parshwanath Bhagwan was discovered. In 1851 of Vikram era, the inscriptions of local rocks, various compositions of several Acharayas, temple records and other materials also mentioned the name of Shri Jirawala Parshwanath Bhagwan. No one knows what happened in the place of Presiding Deity, the idol of Shri Neminath Bhagwan found. It was believed that due to the fears of invasion and plunder, the ancient idol of Shri Parshwanath Bhagwan may be kept preserved and protected. At present, it has been installed in a small single room which gives significance to this temple.
Importance:
The glory of Shri Jirawala Parshwanath Bhagwan has been sung in Jain literatures from every part of the world.Whenever there are concecration ceremonies then this tirth is always remembered at first in the holy incantation “Om Hrin Sri Jirawala Parshvanathay Namah”. On such occasions some miracles happen and wishes of the faithful devotees get fulfilled. In this temple, various idols of Shri Parshwanath Bhagwan in various rooms have been installed with 108 different names. In India, this is the only Ancient shrine where 108 different names of Shri Parshwanath Bhagwan are found. All saints and acharyas have visited this shrine and sung the glory of this shrine. The miracles of this place are also well known. Many Jains and Non-Jains devotees also visit here. Every year, after the yield of wheat crop people visit this shrine with their families. Firstly, they cook and prepare their meals here with great joy. After offering food to the Lord, they consume that food. By doing this, they consider themselves lucky. The idol of Shri Parshwanath Bhagwan is made in an artistic and impressive manner. The atmosphere of Jairaj mountain foothills are so peaceful. Over all beauty of this temple is an extremely attractive.
